Days 11 - 13

Well today we have to start the trip home.  We decided that we were going to drive most of the day so as to get home in 3 days.  We got a late start because we enjoyed another breakfast out on the porch with the hummingbirds.  We had a brief conversation with two women who were staying at the same place and had taken the bus with us to the concert.  They asked how the walk back went and talked about how great the concert was.  They were headed out to the airport and were returning to Woburn, MA.

So another decision we made was to take the more northern route, hoping it would be a bit cooler.  Scott ended up driving till around 11 that night and we slept in a very nice truck stop.  When I took Virgil for his morning walk it was amazing to see how many people had just stopped and were sleeping in their cars, in the driver seat no less.  We got an early start and while I was driving Scot made reservations at a campground on Lake Erie.  We had a great dinner at a Mexican restaurant. The owner had seen us drive in with the camper and came over and talked to us quite awhile while we ate.  The campground was very nice.  The next day we drove along  the eastern shore of the lake for quite awhile.  It is so vast, it looked like the ocean.  Driving so many hours in the day was very tiring and you tend to forget what state you are driving through.  Another insight we gained from this trip was that in the future we would rather drive a long time so that we could spend a whole day at a location to break the trip up.  Even with our shorter drives headed out to Colorado you don't really get a chance to explore your stopovers.  It was good to get home although with all the rain there was a lot of weeding and yard work to catch up on and alot of conversation of selling and moving to a condo. : )  Shady back on her spot on the couch.
