Day 9 Cliff House Lodge, Morrison, Colorado

We arrived at The Cliff House Lodge around noon after restocking at Walmart and Costco that were conveniently located right next to each other.  Our room was not ready yet so it gave us time to explore the town.  We headed out with Virgil and walked on a trail along a stream, on the return we walked down main street.  We ate lunch outside at a restaurant along the stream.  We headed back to the camper and hung out until our room was ready.  The town has the same vibe as Norway Maine and both of us really liked it. Scott has been gathering information on how to get to and from the concert.  Scott yesterday was talking with a guy at the bar who had been to Red Rocks many times and he warned Scott about bears along the trail we were planning on walking back to our room.  The woman running the lodge said it would be a good idea to walk the trail during the day and gave Scott directions.  So off we headed to find and walk the trail.  On getting to a stone bluff there was a guy using a remote controlled truck to climb up and down the rocks.  He gave a general direction to head in and then warned us about the rattlers that had been seen yesterday.  Geez with that warning we headed off to find the trail.  The actual trail once found was pretty wide and it was a beautiful walk.  We didn't see any bears or rattlers but did come upon a lynx about to pounce on a rabbit.  Scott was able to get a picture of it.  The lodge provides a bus to the amphitheater and now we know how to walk back.  We went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant on main Street and started to discuss how to approach heading back home. Even though we are relatively close to the Grand Canyon we decided that we would rather do it another time and spend more time exploring other areas near it as well.  We are considering maybe doing a section of Route 66 but then we have been away quite a while.  I think Scott is leaning towards doing some long drives and getting home sooner rather than later.  We sat out on the lodge porch and listened to the music from a nearby bar and watched as Virgil and one of the resident dogs played coy with each other.  It was so relaxing looking up at the mountains and feel the cool breeze after another hot day.
